Summer 2003
Hello Members,
I would like to welcome all the newest members to our club and thank all of the loyal current members for their support and continued participation. We presently have 100+ members within our two states.
Starting out this year we have been working on a regional club web site. The web site is still in the beginning stages www.pawvviperclub.com and is gradually starting to catch some attention. We would like to set up a Photo gallery of as many of our members' cars as possible. If you would like to email a picture please send it to vipergts@ptd.net.
On
May 4th we did a meet and cruise to “Quaker Steak and Lube”
in Sharon, PA. There was not a big turnout, but we had a good time and
great “wings”. The weather was fine and we met up with some
new members.
We also got to see Tim’s new SRT/10 – very nice!!
On May 10th Beaverun Race Track Facilities offered our club a free hour of track time just to see if it was something the members might be interested in, but it poured rain through out the morning and nothing took place. They have offered another date, but it did not seem to generate much interest. You can learn more about the facilities at Beaverun at www.Beaverun.com.
There
are many more events planned for July, August and September. Unfortunately
there is no Viper Owners Invitational this year. The next one will be
in 2004 at a site as yet to be determined. Dodge told us that 770 Vipers
and around 1,600 people attended VOI-7 in Nashville last year. Anyone
wanting at copy of the Video from VOI-7 contact Donna Kort at vipergts@ptd.netand she will mail you one. Also it seems to be the thought that the venue
for VOI-8 will be out west. In lieu of a VOI this year, there will be
several Regional Rendezvous around the country. The Northeast Rendezvous
will be held May 31-June 2 at Englishtown, NJ. Dodge has promised more
support for these Regional events this year.
The All-Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, PA has become a super event, which our club has hosted for many years. This year we will again have the hospitality tent with a catered lunch and our evening Dinner Meeting on Saturday, July 12th. When registering for this event please be sure that your registration form lists “Viper Club of America” as the “group” you are with. This allows our club additional space necessary to accommodate everyone’s car. Our 2003 Calendar of Events is listed below and has the dates and additional information.
We are in need of a volunteer from the eastern half of Pennsylvania to help with event ideas and or planning and or event hosting for drawing more participation. If someone is interested in just passing along information about local car cruises or racing events we would post them on the calendar and help plan, organize and publicize the event, please give me a call or an email.
I’ll be at the VCA Northeastern Zone Rendezvous and hope to see some of you there. Please let me know if I can be of service in any way.

| July 5-6 | Hot Rod Circus - Zelienople,
PA, 2 days of car activities. Viper “reserved parking,
Club hospitality tent and admission covered. Fun-Drag racing down
the air strip for all cars. Special attractions will be “the
Little Red Wagon” that will be out on the “drag”
air strip. Car and food vendors, live bands – maybe even the
“Viperizer” a dragster owned by one of our club members. |
| July 11-12-13 | All-Chrysler Nationals –
Carlisle, PA Fairgrounds – It’s a Mopar Thing. Annual Club
event. Hospitality Tent, catered lunch and evening Dinner Meeting
at local restaurant. The 2003 Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals presented
by Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep is not entering its 13th year as one of
the top-rated Mopar shows in the country. Don’t miss it. Be
sure to pre-register and get your motel reservations as soon as possible.

| July 26 | Maryland Club Event
– 4th Annual Crab Feast Cruise – Maryland has extended
a An invitation to our members to join in with them for this feast
and fun. You can check out their web site for further information

| August | Vipers at Beaverun –
Wampum, PA The track has a day open when we could share a day with
another club. We’ll try again to see if there is an interest.

We are hoping to have a date in August to see Frank Barba race his
new 2003 Competition Coupe. Actual Date TBD |
| September 13 | Drags at Pittsburgh Raceway
Park – New Alexandria, PA – A member has a friend who would
like to sponsor our club for a day at the drag strip. Watch or participate
in the fun. Drivers will be eligible for prizes and awards. More information
will be mailed and posted on the web site. |
